Mental Health Psychotherapy
My Therapeutic Approach
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker practicing psychotherapy for over 10 years. Born and raised under the beautiful Big Sky of Montana, I have enjoyed investing in the mental health and well-being of the community where I live as well as other places I have loved. My background was originally in Philosophy, so my approach to talk therapy is very logic based, often using Socratic Dialogue to explore the internal experience. While more cognitive in my modalities, I do like to include the intrinsically connected emotional, physical, and metaphysical experiences to make sense of the whole. I am kindof a nerd and love to learn about neuro-economics, how the brain is making decisions, and how science is adding new insights to our collective understanding of what it is to be human. I value doing my own work, meaning, I have a great therapist that I see on a regular basis. Making sure I continue to address my own stuff, means that there is less of a chance I will bring that into a session with your stuff. It means I get frequent reminders of experiencing being on the other side of the proverbial screen or couch, understanding how hard it is to make meaningful change. I know a lot of the behavioral health stuff, but that doesn't mean it is easier for me to apply that to my own life. The struggle is real, and I'm doing it too.
